"Heart of Crags," by the early American Impressionist, M.B. VanCouwenhoven, circa 18&99, from that certain rock cleft at the West base of North Dome, which does end abruptly, over the West Face of the lower 3/4 of North Dome, beneath Cleft Dome (center), above Castle Creek, off toward Castle Peak, which thereupon overlooks Castle Lake on the far side. Left top peak is but the Easternmost prominence of The Far Crag Complex, itself the Eastern extension of the region known heretofore as "Crag City," being the Westernmost extension of that granitic batholith upthrust.
