Mountain Sunrise - A Mixed Metaphor of Science & Something More.

Got up pre-dawn with the birds of the valley, to watch the glow of the sun starting to think about coming up in that black-blue eastern sky, with its edge glow over the Sierras' silhouette.

Watched the glow change colors as the sun rose over Utah and Nevada, out of sight to me, and got high enough way over there to backlight Nevada's dust and refract into orange glow over my Sierras.

As the glow grew, expanding vertically, and that orange moved toward yellow, a new glow appeared, finally sending rays vertically above the now-blue Sierra bulk line.

Finally, the edge of the fiery bright flamethrowing surface of the sun poked up the edge of its head between 2 blue peaks. Sol sent his eye rays beaming through the ridgeline of the Sierra crest, like a laser, all the way into the retina of my eye, struck that backplane, and refracted up through the optic nerve to create an image interpreted by my brain as imagery and pain.

"God reveals himself," I thought. "Daren't look too close at His Omnipotence." "My God is a Powerful God!"

Having once demonstrated his power he deigned to rise up more formally, in full regalia of rays cast out in all directions. He illuminated the Earth from the Heavens.

The blue Sierran silhouette grew brighter, changing shades to brightest blue, as the power of thousands of nuclear bombs cast radiation toward Earth to heat it and grow the globe's crops and nourish His creatures "here below."

"Praise ye above, ye Heavenly Host. Praise Father, Son and Holy Ghost."

Amen.
